allison leigha parker, celebrity.
KISS & TELL: thanks so much for agreeing to talk to us today! it's a real honor, let me tell you. so first. let's start with the basics. tell us a little about yourself.
YOU: alright, well, hi i'm allison leigha parker, but please, everyone, call me allie. my full name is a bit much, ya know? well, i was born march third in nashville, tennessee and i am eighteen years old.
K&T: excellent! now that we know some of the key things about you, fill us in on what exactly you do.
YOU: well, i am a country singer and songwriter. i write all my own songs and i play the instruments on some of the tracks, but my favorite thing to do is play them live so i mainly leave the recording instrumentals to the professionals.
K&T: I see. and just how did you get started in this business?
YOU: well, i've loved to sing since i was a little girl and it has been my dream to be a professional singer/songwriter since i was, at least, four years old. as i grew up i learned how to play the guitar and the piano. once i knew most of the keys i was already on my way to writing songs. at first it was corny little girl songs about barbies and ponies and stuff like that, right? so through middle school i won the state talent competition and was given a chance to go to las angeles to record a couple songs, but i just wasn't satisfied enough with that. i convinced my mom, somehow, to move out there until i got a record deal when i was sixteen. it was a strange thing called a development deal, so that i could work on all my songs at the studio for a year and after that was up they would decide if they fully wanted to sign me. i took it though, so after the year they loved my songs and believed in me enough so they gave me a deal and when i recorded my album. put out two singles and the second one is the one that mainly stuck. my records started selling and i heard my songs on the radio and i almost died from excitement. my mom felt that living in las angeles was just way too much for her so she decided that malibu would be great and my father would be able to move in with us then, so i jumped at the idea.
K&T: okay, okay. enough of the boring stuff. give us the juicy details on your love life!
YOU: [ laughs ] well, i don't know if i even have one. i've never really found one guy that's really stuck, ya know? it's just been regular high school relationships for me. actually, if you really want to know about my love life you should just listen to my songs, that's mainly what they're about. i've been through ups and downs but i still am looking for a special guy. but, yeah, to mainly answer your question i am single.
K&T: what is your favorite part of the business?
YOU: my favorite part would have to be just getting my music out to the masses and maybe just helping them through their day. whenever i turn on my favorite songs, no matter how crappy of a mood i'm in, i perk up and i can sing and dance and just all around enjoy myself. yeah, the money from touring and record sells are nice, but i can live fine without that. i just like seeing the smiles on my fan's faces when they watch and listen to me.
K&T: what is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
YOU: my parents and i have a farm on the outskirts of town. on my days off i get a ride out there, no i don't have a car of my own, and i saddle up my horse and just spend my time on the trails with my horse, rain, and my dogs and just have a good peaceful time.
K&T: are there any projects you just wrapped up or are currently working on?
YOU: actually, i'm finishing up high school, i'm home schooled, but i've been in the studio and writing some songs for my next album. but in the summer i'm going on tour in the states and over in asia and europe. i'm really excited, it's my first world tour.
K&T: tell us about your family.
YOU: my family isn't that big but we're all really close. most of my cousins, aunts and uncles, and others are back in tennessee but i have my mom and my dad. my mom's name is leighanne and my father's name is cooper. my father, when my mom and i moved to las angeles, stayed back in nashville to settle some things and continue his job since he still needed to bring in the money, he also had just gotten a promotion and a raise so he just couldn't say no, i couldn't do that to him. when we moved to malibu, he had been calling around and he found himself a job there and he was able to move out there with us. the only thing that bothers me with them is that they still, well my father does, treats me like a child. my mom sees me as a grown adult and i really do thank her for that, knowing and understanding my talents, and helping me with everything.
K&T: what's something we don't know about you? any juicy secrets?
YOU: [ laughs ] no, no real secrets. i can tell you, though, that i don't change any names in my songs. every song is from my heart and i just can't make myself change up the stories even a bit. it's my soul in my songs so what i write is how it was. also...just a bit of random information since you're really digging for it...i do still sing and dance to r&b and rap songs in my room with a hairbrush.
K&T: speaking of juicy, what's a rumor you've heard about yourself lately?
YOU: the funniest thing i've ever heard, actually, scared my father to death. to be honest, at first, i was really angry with it but i calmed down. i saw that i was supposedly pregnant with this one guy's baby. not gonna say who just to save that trouble again, but after about a month or two it started getting laughable and soon just turned hilarious.
K&T: thanks so much for chatting! I know you're busy, so we'll be letting you go now. but before you do, care to leave our readers with any words of wisdom?
YOU: well i can only say one thing whole heartily, i don't want to offend anyone just in case, you know how words are twisted. all i want to say is that no one should give up on a dream. dreams are meant to be shot for, to me dreams are goals. if you have a dream just don't sit back and think "oh it's a good dream," do something about it or you'll regret it for the rest of your life.
